Referencing

You’re probably aware that security is a major issue for airports and like all businesses operating within airports we adhere to Government law and airport authorities’ rules.

This means you’ll have to provide us with a lot of information about yourself, but once you’re cleared to work at the airport we’re sure you’ll feel it’s worth it – after all Alpha is a great company to work for.

As well as having the right to live and work in the UK, you’ll need to provide references, ID and undergo a criminal record check.

Normally, we’ll need two professional references – these should be references from a professional person who has known you for at least five years. Unfortunately they can’t be from relatives or previous employers.

You’ll need to provide two forms of ID, one of which must show your current address. Forms of ID accepted are passport, driving licence or birth certificate.

You’ll also need a checkable reference history as we must be able to confirm these details for up to five years from organisations or professionals who have had contact with you during this time. You must have a five year checkable reference history if you want to work in our retail or retail catering businesses and either two or five years for our flight services operation.

To meet security requirements it’s very important you give us a full history no matter whether you were unemployed, in education or in work.

Please note, normally the airport authorities will only accept original reference statements and not copies or faxes.

Unfortunately, if you cannot provide references that meet the relevant airport authority’s criteria we can’t offer you a job with us. However, once you’ve got clearance a great job is waiting for you.
